- Cantilever: Has open arms for long individual runs picked from the front; best for frequent access to specific diameters and elevated, space-saving storage
- Floor or stanchion: Has contained ground-level bays for heavy or bundled pipe loaded; best for the heaviest bundles and high-turn stock
