Job Description
Project Engineer oversees planning and coordinating technical engineering initiatives to make sure they can complete a project within their budget and according to a schedule. The project engineer will be responsible for some design activities. They will define the necessary resources necessary to complete the project within the required time and financial constraints. They will be responsible for monitoring the project throughout the lifecycle of the project (project definition, quoting, production delivery and installation). Their duties include upholding project standards by researching compliance regulations, developing project implementation plans and adjusting specifications for elements of a project.
Primary Responsibilities
- Define project objectives (with sales team),
- Gather / assess site conditions,
- Develop rack design,
- Interact with lift / crane OEM’s to ensure system compatibility,
- Work with Purchasing to source custom materials,
- Generate proposals (responsible for accurate cost workup),
- Create detailed proposal drawings,
- Work with engineering consultants for stamped drawings, concrete analysis, anchor bolt design,
- Present design / cost work-up to exec team for approval ($1M+),
- Present design / fab requirements to production team,
- Conduct pre-install Teams meetings with customers and crews,
- Travel to the job site to provide technical support during installation.
- Work with customer and Dexco quality team to address and rectify any warranty issues that may arise.
- Conduct regular meetings with clients to ensure clarification and meet specific requirements in a timely manner.
- Delegate tasks to team members according to their individual skill sets, experience and abilities to ensure efficient completion of the project.
- Maintain budgets and adjust according to needs as they arise.
- Track project performance schedule and analyze the completion of key goals.
- Document and report project progress to collaborators and clients.
Project Engineers have a leadership and planning role where they help direct the steps of a project in an efficient manner. They communicate with other Engineers producing drawings and technical plans for a project. Project Engineers collect comprehensive data about aspects of a project, examining trends and helping determine how to manage change and growth. Project Engineers make budget recommendations, estimate time requirements and determine the resources necessary for meeting all the project’s goals.
